Ohio chapters and members donated more than $10,000 to service dog initiatives this year, before the “Dimes for Dogs” collection at the annual meeting in September.
The Annual Picnic & Dog Walk on August 8 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home Pavilion raised more than $1,600. Members and friends joined the walk, shared lunch, and bid on silent auction items, making it a day of fellowship for a meaningful cause.
The committee raises funds and awareness for working service dogs across Ohio. These specially trained dogs perform tasks that support independence, safety, and comfort for the people who rely on them.
Ohio members support organizations including 4 Paws for Ability in Xenia, which places service dogs with children and veterans, and the Police K9 Unit in Mount Vernon. Committee members also visit chapters to share information about service dog etiquette and handler rights.
