A change in the calendar did not dampen the fun at this month’s “Crafts with Joan.” After a one-week delay for Labor Day, Ohio Eastern Star members joined residents of Browning Masonic Community on September 14 to make fabric stuffed pumpkins, just in time for fall.
Joan Draper led the project, with help from Anna Banachowski, Jane Anne Grindle, Debi Huffman, and Gail Walsh. The group planned to return to its regular first-Monday schedule in October, with a few friendly ghosts on the craft table.
Eastern Star members in Northwest Ohio have offered a monthly craft class at Browning since December 2015. The projects change, but the reason for gathering stays the same: enjoying time together and building friendships with the residents.
Browning Masonic Community opened in Waterville in 1999 and is one of three Ohio Masonic Communities. It offers independent living, assisted living, and memory care. For our members, these visits are a simple, joyful way to put caring into practice.
